Employees increasingly recognize the benefits of AI and integrate it into their daily work, sometimes without formal approval or governance mechanisms. This phenomenon, often referred to as shadow AI, creates both opportunities and risks. As the initial fascination with AI matures, organizations are beginning to ask a more fundamental question: what comes next?

Public debate around AI remains polarized. Some voices warn about disruption, job displacement, and broader societal consequences, while others emphasize unprecedented opportunities for productivity and innovation. At the same time, many organizations are reevaluating earlier workforce reduction strategies and recognizing that the future is not a binary choice between people and AI. Instead, the challenge lies in establishing effective approaches for alignment, collaboration, and orchestration. Organizations need robust frameworks for the safe and responsible adoption of AI technologies. The theme “Orchestrating Human and Artificial Intelligence in Business” reflects these profound changes in organizations, work practices, and labor markets.

Beyond the societal perspective, there is a pressing need for methods, tools, and technologies that support this transition. AI agents require coordination and governance. It is not enough to provide them with access to tools and knowledge; they must also be able to collaborate effectively with people. Determining which tasks should be performed by humans, which by AI agents, and which through hybrid collaboration has become a central research question. Business Process Management has long focused on coordinating activities across people and organizations. Today, a new participant enters this landscape: autonomous AI agents.

<polygon points="12 2 2 7 12 12 22 7 12 2"></polygon><polyline points="2 17 12 22 22 17"></polyline><polyline points="2 12 12 17 22 12"></polyline>

Topics of Interest

Artificial Intelligence

enterprise copilots

foundation and large language models

responsible AI and bias mitigation

AI governance

trust, acceptance and adoption of AI systems

Agentic Information Systems

AI agents and multi-agent systems

reasoning and planning

tool use and function calling

agent orchestration and coordination

agent governance and control

no-code, low-code, harness engineering

Human-AI Collaboration and Augmented Work

human-AI teaming

hybrid intelligence systems

task allocation between humans and AI agents

AI-assisted decision making

measuring productivity and value of human-AI collaboration

collaborative intelligence

Knowledge Representation

AI in knowledge work

knowledge graphs and LLM synergy

GraphRAG

neuro-symbolic AI

knowledge-grounded agents

quality of data and data curation

AI-ready Enterprise Data Platforms

data infrastructure for AI systems

enterprise memory

data science for business systems and applications

data spaces

standards, data models, and business models for smart data

Intelligent Business Process Management

AI-enhanced BPM

adaptive and autonomous business processes

process knowledge representation

process mining and generative AI

workflow synthesis and optimization

orchestration of AI services and tools

process digital twins

Enterprise Architecture and Governance

AI-enabled enterprise architecture

enterprise transformation

governance of intelligent information systems

organizational capabilities for AI adoption

Digital Twins and World Models

world models for business systems

simulation-based decision support

predictive enterprise modelling

digital twins for process optimization

cyber-physical business systems

Multimodal Models

multimodal retrieval

multimodal reasoning

visual grounding

multimodal enterprise assistants

deepfake and asset management

document understanding and enterprise content processing

Societal Implications of AI

green transformation and sustainability (ESG)

corporate social responsibility (CSR)

misinformation and disinformation

media and information integrity

privacy and digital rights

digital cultures

<div style="float:left;
